Awards Program to institution-wide honors such as the Irish Education Awards and global accolades like the WISE Prize for Education. These awards can highlight success in specific areas like student experience, technology use, or sustainability, or they may offer a more general "overall excellence" honor for individuals or institutions.

Types of education awards

For students: These awards recognize individual academic achievement and hard work.

Examples: The President's Education Awards Program (PEAP) in the United States honors graduating elementary, middle, and high school students for their achievements.

For educators and staff: These awards celebrate exceptional contributions by individuals and teams in teaching, innovation, and support roles.

Examples: The Dutch Education Award is given to teams in secondary vocational and higher education, while the ICA Teacher Awards are international.

For institutions and departments: These awards recognize overall performance and excellence across an institution, department, or program.

Examples: The Irish Education Awards recognize both state and privately funded institutions for excellence in areas that contribute to student success. Other examples include the India's Education Excellence Awards and the QS World University Rankings.

For specific initiatives: Many awards focus on specific areas within education.

Examples: The International Green Gown Awards for sustainability, the Global EdTech Awards for educational technology, and the ISCN Sustainable Campus Excellence Awards.

How the awards process works

Nomination: Individuals or institutions can be nominated by others or can nominate themselves for various awards.

Review: A review committee, sometimes made up of previous award winners, evaluates the nominations based on established criteria.

Recognition: Nominees may receive recognition, such as a digital badge or certificate, even if they are not selected as a finalist.

Awards ceremony: Finalists are announced, and winners are celebrated at an awards ceremony, sometimes referred to as the "Oscars of Education" like the Tes Awards.

Inspire others: By highlighting successful practices, they encourage others to strive for greatness in their own work.
